How will Career Services help me to prepare for my internship and my career?

You will receive personalized advice to help you fine-tune your career goals, develop a clear vision of your prospects, and build a medium-term career strategy to help you obtain your dream role.
Open door policy
The more you talk to us the better we can help you. Our door is always open!
What type of internship will be available for me?
As a Master’s student, you will receive expert advice from one of the most senior members of the Career Services team, who is specialized in counselling students beyond the Bachelor level. Your choice of internship will depend largely on your profile, background and experience in your chosen field, combined with your future career goals. For students with little or no experience, we strongly recommend using this opportunity to learn more about operations.
For those who already have experience, there will be a whole host of different options to choose from at a more managerial level and in a variety of sectors (hospitality, luxury retail, finance, consulting and more) according to your own specific career goals.
Is the internship mandatory?
For the third semester you can choose to do either an internship or a Business Research Project (BRP). You should discuss your options with your counselor before making your choice as this will be very much dependent on your individual circumstances.
Where can I go for my internship?
This will depend very much on your passport, and more specifically on where you have the right to work and for which countries you can apply for a visa. You will receive full guidance on this upon your arrival at Glion.
What if I find a direct entry position at the end of my studies?
If you find a job after your second academic semester, congratulations! You will be able to use the first 24 weeks of your employment to validate the internship semester. The same is true if you enter a corporate management training program at this time.
Are internships paid?
This depends very much on the location and business sector you choose: it is very difficult to generalize. In the hospitality professions, the salary of interns is regulated by collective employment conventions in the specific country (e.g. France, Switzerland). In other countries (e.g. Dubai, Thailand, Bali, etc.) you may receive just a small stipend, while your food, accommodation and transport are taken care of by your employer.
What if I were to dislike my internship or encounter a challenging situation while I am on internship?
You should contact your Careers Advisor if you experience any difficulties while you are on your internship. You will receive personal assistance and guidance on a case-by-case basis. While you should ideally complete your internship in one working environment, we understand that individual circumstances may mean that it becomes necessary to change.
“During my internship I got involved in a new project as Special Project Manager, Workforce Innovation at Marriott. This took me to corporate level and ultimately my first role in March 2022 as part of Learning and Development and HR projects, delivering training to 394 hotels and property leaders. It was a hard choice between staying in-property and going corporate, but my passion for this project is very strong. I handled all internal communications, ran training and carried out marketing and some data analytics. My progression was fast but I feel very grateful.” •
