Business dress code Practical Arts grooming
Application on campus
- Period: Monday to Saturday
- Timing: 08:00–18:00
- Locations: in all public areas on campus
- Maison Décotterd: from Tuesday to Saturday, from 11:30 to 14:30 and from 18:30 to 22:30, the passage through the bistro is prohibited unless you are working or a guest. Otherwise, you must go around the outside.
You are expected to

- Wear your name tag, this is mandatory in all areas on campus
For females
Overall
- Name tag is mandatory.
- Classic-colored skirt or dress with a matching jacket OR trouser suit with ironed crease (no shorter or longer than one credit card height above or below the knee).
- Classic blouse, can be a bright color or have discreet patterns – not longer than the jacket
- Turtleneck tops, pullover, sleeveless tops, round and V-neck tops are allowed under the jacket.
- Jacket is mandatory.
- Fine neck-ties or business scarves worn around the neck.
- Discreet stockings or tights skin/black color are mandatory when wearing a skirt or a dress.
- Dark socks to match suit and classic shoes.
- Dark colored, well-polished business shoes in good condition that support the feet well.
- Shoes must be black in Practical Arts and the heel must be 3cm high and 3cm wide.
- Boots are forbidden.
Head to shoulders
- Long hair must be kept neat and tidy
- Make-up must be natural and discreet
- Nail polish of classic soft tones
- Non-obtrusive jewelry – professional guidelines are no more than 3 pieces of jewelry in addition to a watch (ring, necklace, bracelet, earrings only on ear lobes)
Clothing waist-up
- Jacket is mandatory.
- Turtlenecks, blouses or tops with long sleeves, short sleeves, sleeveless tops, round and V-neck tops.
- Blouses should be fitted but not skin-tight and no longer than jacket.
- Pullover of plain or bright color, or discreet patterns worn under a jacket.
- Fine neck-ties or business scarves worn around the neck.
Clothing waist down
- Suit trousers full length or just above ankle.
- Skirts and dresses with a length no shorter or longer than one credit card height above or below the knee.
- Tights/stockings are mandatory when wearing a dress or skirt (plain and classical colors, skin or black).
Shoes
- Shoes must be polished, elegant, closed and one color (black, brown, grey, navy blue)
- For Practical Arts, shoes must be black or dark, and the heel must be 3cm high and 3cm wide.
For males
Overall
- Name tag is mandatory.
- Classic-colored suit or matching jacket and trousers – two or three pieces.
- Ironed shirt with classic pattern, classic collar.
- Necktie is mandatory (classic necktie or bow tie).
- Jacket is mandatory.
- Pullovers of plain and discreet color can be worn under a jacket; pullovers with V-neck collar or a waistcoat can be worn over a shirt with a tie and under a jacket.
- Full length suit trousers are mandatory.
- Dark socks to match suit and classic shoes.
- Dark colored, well-polished business shoes in good condition.
Head to shoulders
- If hair is short, it is to be cut above the collar; if hair is long, it is to be tied in a hair bun.
- Hair needs to be styled and well-kept.
- Hair must be cut above the collar in Practical Arts.
- Facial hair must be shaved daily.
- Reasonable length beards (max. 1cm), goatees and moustaches are acceptable if they show clear signs of daily up-keep (shaved sides, clear lines), and only if grown prior to the start of the semester.
- Clean shaven if no facial hair.
- Jewelry must be non-obtrusive, no more than 3 pieces (watch, ring, necklace or bracelet).
Clothing waist-up
- Jacket is mandatory.
- Business tie or bow tie is mandatory.
- Shirt must be classic pattern, long-sleeved, tucked in, cuffs buttoned, tie well-adjusted.
- Short sleeved shirts are allowed in summer (June-September).
- Turtleneck or pullover with V-neck collar or a waistcoat worn over a shirt with a tie and under a jacket.
- Pocket handkerchief.
Clothing waist down
- Full length suit trousers are mandatory.
Shoes
- Shoes must be polished, classic city, elegant, closed and one color (black, navy blue, brown or grey).
- For Practical Arts, the shoes and socks must be black.
- Mid-calf/crew socks are compulsory, of a plain and dark classic color or matched with the color of shoes.

Note
- Should you need to pass by the ground floor, you need to be in business attire.

- Ripped or distressed jeans
- Sheer or see-through clothing
- T-shirts with offensive slogans or graphics
- Tank tops or sleeveless tops (in formal settings)
- Pajamas or loungewear
- Flip-flops or slippers
- Excessively baggy clothing
- Athletic wear and leggings (outside gym or sports activities)
- Overly flashy or nightclub-style outfits
- Low-cut tops
- Excessively tight or form-fitting clothing
- Visible undergarments (e.g., bra straps, boxer shorts)
- Stained or unkempt clothing

As guests of Maison Décotterd, you should respect the following:
